About Dr.
Bar-AmiOn 1982 Dr.
Bar-Ami concluded his PHD from Weizmann institute of science. As part of the
researches, he conducted during his doctorate, he engaged in researches of the
processes which prepare the oocyte for fertilization.
Later, from 1982 to 1984 Dr. Bar-Ami did his post-doctorate in the
University of Maryland USA where he researched the processes involved in ovarian
follicular development and selecting the dominant follicle.
In 1984 Dr. Bar-Ami joined the IVF unit in RAMBAM medical center.
At the same time, he founded and directed, for 10 years, the research lab for
studying the human fertility in the Technion institute medical school.
This outstanding rare unique combination of a clinical research lab and day
by day doing humans IVF in the one of the country biggest Medical Center, led
to a great success in providing solutions to many infertility problems.
Between 1995
and 1999 Dr. Bar-Ami headed the IVF lab, the andrology lab and the biochemistry
lab in Foulkner Centre for reproductive medicine (FCRM) that was in Foulkner
Medical Center in Boston Massachusetts USA. During that time his international
reputation as a leading figure in the field of adequate performance, appliance
and development of lab methods in the
in vitro fertilization was
established.
In addition, it
was at that time that he worked as a clinical instructor in Harvard University
and was admitted as an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology in
the Boston University and admitted to scientific and medical associations
around the globe.
As of 1999 Dr. Bar-Ami
acts as a Section head in the IVF unit of Poriya Medical Center in Tiberius in
Israel. He has brought to that unit the micro manipulation technic (ICSI: Intra
Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection) which serves many couples and has thus far
assisted barren couples. Likewise, he codirected the laboratory procedures of
many advanced techniques in of the IVF unit:
a.
TEFNA (Testicular Fine Needle Aspiration): which assist in azoospermia to extract
sperms from the testicle.
b.
vitrification: Fast freezing of human egg and
pre-embryos
c.
Time Laps: Highly
sophisticated controlled environment in combination with continuous photography
which help increasing pregnancy rate in the IVF treatment
From 2006 to
2007 he acted as head of the research lab in the endocrinology unit in Hillel
Yaffe Medical Center in Hadera Israel. As part of his activity there, he guided
many researches with graduate student. He initiated groundbreaking researches utilizing
molecular biology approaches aimed the understanding of the relationship
between the development of the ovarian follicle and oocyte and the fatty acid metabolism in ovarian cells.
In 2005, Dr.
Bar-Ami has founded "Gale – Onn" laboratories which provide
state of the art comprehensive sperm lab services. Over the years, we at Gale –
Onn labs have specialized at implementing and perfecting the latest most
advanced lab methods and treatments aimed at assisting couples suffering from
barrens due to lack of sperm cells (Azoospermia). For this aim, Dr. Bar-Ami had
developed new approaches for detecting mature sperm (spermatozoa), even when
there are only a few sperm in semen and when sperm are not found, we could
offer an approach of using microscopic DIC (Differential
Interference Contrast) together with the sophisticated genetic test (FISH Fluorescence in situ Hybridization)
to detect the presence of spermatids or elongated spermatids among the round
cells population in semen.
